FOM Events Throughout the Year

There are SO many events at Magnolia throughout the year! Some events are put on by FOM and some officially by Magnolia. Below you will find the events organized and run by FOM. When we get closer to any of these events they’ll be announced in the Monarch Memo and details will be on the monthly calendar.

Official school events will announced in the Monarch Memo and on the monthly calendar.

Fundraising Events

  • Sale of student and adult shirts (and seasonally, student hoodies) with the MMFA logo on it. This is a fundraiser that benefits FOM, held twice a year - once in the Fall and once in the Winter.

  • FOM’s largest fundraiser of the year where we ask families to donate what they feel comfortable donating to FOM for that year’s efforts. That money directly goes back to families, teachers, and school events. This fundraiser, organized by FOM, usually happens throughout the month of October and makes up over 50% of our budgeted income for the year.

  • Fundraiser at Chuck E. Cheese benefiting FOM. Up to 20% of sales of tickets, food and merchandise for all who mention Magnolia, go to FOM. Usually in the Winter.

  • Fundraiser at Phil’s Icehouse and Amy’s Ice Cream (at the same location) benefiting FOM. Up to 20% of all sales for the day go to FOM. Usually in the Spring.

Community Events

  • This is a celebration of the different cultures that make up our Magnolia community. There are often performances, activities, information booths about different cultures, and a potluck of food from different cultures. Usually takes place in the fall semester.

  • One of our most popular family events! FOM reserves tent sites at Texas State Parks or City Parks for Magnolia families for a Fall Camping Trip and a Spring Camping Trip each year. Camping trips go from Friday-Sunday and happen sometime between end of September through early November for the fall, and sometime between end of February through end of March. Check out the School Slideshow to see some pictures of past camping trips here! Stay for the weekend, one night, or just come for the day!

**Not to be confused with the school Upper Elementary Camping Trip, in which Upper Elementary students go with their teachers and parent chaperones to retreat facilities that have bunk cabins. Usually Tuesday-Thursday in April.

  • The book fair usually happens in the spring - it’s like a mini bookstore right at school! Students shop with their classes, and there is family shopping time as well after school. Students love they get to shop for books on their own.

A significant portion of the sales goes back to the school to purchase books.

We offer a selection of free donated gently used books so that every student can leave with a book.

  • While the uniform closet is always for families to shop gently used uniforms, there are also swap events throughout the year to both donate and shop. Families do not need to give anything in order to take from the closet. Typically, there is a call for donations at the end of the school year, and a call for families to pick up clothes at the beginning of the school year. You can also donate clothes at anytime to the front office.

  • A fun time for all families to come to campus and watch a movie on the big screen under the stars.

  • These are a chance to meet/hang out with other families in your children’s class at the beginning of the school year. These may also happen throughout the year, depending on how social your class is. They are typically organized by your community’s room reps.

  • Our version of a PTA meeting, organized and run by FOM - happen in the fall and spring These meetings are with all families to hear updates about the school, events coming up, and ways to help out. These meetings are open to all families and everyone is encouraged to attend! They happen right before our board meetings, which everyone is also welcome to attend. Translation in Spanish is provided.

  • FOM hosts an ice cream party for students who completed the STAAR tests and their teachers! A well deserved treat when tests are finished!
