FOM raises money for the various things and programs around the school. Below you can see how these funds are raised and where these funds are going. Without the incredibly generous support of our families on every level none of these things could be supported. So a huge thank you to YOU!

The largest chunk of money, “Gifts to MMFA,” supplements existing MMFA budgets so that they can offer more to their staff, and offer more as a school. This has gone to extra materials for the classrooms, extra training for assistants, extra money for professional development, and more. The second largest chunk of money goes to “Staff Grants.” Since the 2019-20 year, FOM has decided to open grants up to anyone in the Magnolia community, meaning both staff and families can apply for FOM-funded grants. This means that if a student or family has an idea or sees a need, they can feel empowered to pursue realization of that idea or pursue a solution to that problem. Applications take into consideration how many students would benefit from the grant as well as how students will benefit. Examples of past grants include document cameras, playground equipment for Children’s House and World Book Encyclopedias to name a few things. Unallocated Funds means just that - that we don’t yet know where that money will go yet. Sometimes there are big projects that come up, such as paying for a new school communication platform that moves us forward towards greater equity in communication, and sometimes there are budgets that need to be supplemented that we didn’t budget for at the beginning of the year, such as Staff Appreciation during a year when our teachers are shouldering a double workload of in-person and remote learning.

If you ever have any questions on the budget or where the money is being applied, please contact us at fom@magnoliamontessori.org or use the contact form on the homepage.
