How does FOM help teachers and staff?

We want you to love working at Magnolia and we want you to be freed up to do what you do best!  In a typical year, we stock the Teacher’s Lounge with coffee and tea for you to enjoy, and we provide snacks on Fridays for your PD time. We also have several times per year that we have appreciation events. Read below to learn about the FOM-sponsored resources available to you: Grants, Staff Relief team, Staff Appreciation Team, Family Support team, the Consumables Closet, and Room Reps!

What’s a FOM Grant and how do I apply for one?

Each year we set aside a specific amount just for grants. In the past they have gone to things like overhead projectors, document cameras, special materials beyond what’s offered in the classroom, and so on. Grants are available for materials and experiences that go beyond the normal expenditures expected in the year. FOM will take into consideration the total number of kids impacted; grants are more likely to be awarded to requests that benefit all of Magnolia, Upper Elementary, Lower Elementary, or Children's House over those for an individual community if we need to decide between two requests. Available to ALL staff working with students (i.e. Lead Guides, Assistant Guides, Office Staff, or Specialists working with students)! Apply for a grant here!

What do the Staff Relief, Staff Appreciation, and Family Support teams do?

The Staff Relief team…is just that! Here to provide a bit of relief of your many many hats you wear as our fantastic guides. Need some extra help in your classroom or just some help with extra folding, cutting, etc? For help, fill out the staff relief form!

The Staff Appreciation team works to show how much we appreciate what you do every day. Usually that’s in the form of snacks on fridays, coffee, or showing we care, through gifts throughout the year. Feel free to contact them here.

The Family Support team provides help to families who need it - we have a long list of support around town and can help work with you to point any family in need to the right place. Please see the Critical Needs Resources List as a start or contact our Family Support team members here.

What’s the Consumables Closet?

The consumables closet is located in the Multipurpose room and has lots of supplies FREE for your classroom provided by the Staff Relief team of FOM. Supplies for staff are available on the left side of the closet, and FOM supplies are kept on the right side of the closet. Check out this flyer to find out more about using the Consumables Closet!

What does your Teacher Rep do?

The Teacher Rep is your representative on the FOM Board. Currently your Board Rep is Ms. Hannah. Their role is providing a Teacher’s perspective to the FOM Board, and then report back any relevant information from the meetings back to the staff. See their contact info on the Meet the Board page.

They attend all FOM Board meetings and are the voice of staff, giving their perspective and reviewing grant applications as well.  If you need to problem-solve around an issue concerning families (i.e., having a hard time contacting certain families, or having low participation/work completion rates, or wondering what parents can help with) or if you have ideas FOM-related, please reach out to your Teacher Rep and they will bring it to the Board.

How can the Room Reps help you?

Room Reps are assigned to you at the beginning of the year and they are parents/guardians that are there to help you throughout the year doing things like organizing community events, contacting other families, volunteering or getting other families to volunteer. You’ll be sent an email in the beginning of the year as to who your Room reps are.

Who do I contact when I have a question for FOM?

Please check out the FOM board for who to reach specifically. Your Teacher Rep is currently Ms. Hannah. Contact the FOM executive team for any general questions through the contact info on the homepage!
