FOM Events

There are SO many events at Magnolia throughout the year! Some events are put on by FOM and some officially by Magnolia MFA. Below you will find the events organized and run by FOM.

FOM Fundraising Events

  • FOM sells Magnolia-branded, uniform-approved merchandise a couple of times a year.

These sales are your chance to purchase T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, hats, and more to show off your school spirit, and benefit FOM!

  • FOM’s largest fundraiser of the year, where we directly ask families to donate what they feel comfortable donating to FOM for that year’s efforts. That money directly goes back to families, teachers, and school events. This fundraiser, organized by FOM, usually happens in the fall, habitually makes up over 50% of our budgeted income for the year.

  • A "Spirit Social" is an event that takes place at a participating business. On a determined day/time, when you mention "Magnolia" while making your purchase, a portion of the proceeds go right back to FOM.

These are a great opportunity to support the school, while hanging out and having fun with other parents, guardians, and kids.

Past participants of Spirit Socials have included:

    • Playland Skate

    • Chuck E. Cheese

    • Phil & Amy's

    • P. Terry's

    • Chipotle

    • Panda Express

    • and more!

  • The FOM Fun Run debuted in Spring of 2024, and was a great way to get the greater MMFA community involved both in fundraising, and simply having some fun!

Fun Run registration is free for all student participants, but includes an optional fundraising element. Friends and family are encouraged to donate either a flat amount, or a per-lap amount. Fundraising begins several weeks prior to the event.

At the event, the students get to run their laps, and enjoy a job well done with their friends.

FOM Community Events

  • Our version of a PTO meeting, organized and run by FOM. We hold these twice a year--once in the fall and once in the spring.

During these events, we share information including school news, events coming up, and ways families can help out. These meetings are open to all families and everyone is encouraged to attend!

All information is presented in English and Spanish.

  • This is a celebration of the different cultures that make up our Magnolia community. There are often performances, activities, information booths about different cultures, and a potluck of food from different cultures.

  • While the uniform closet is always for families to shop gently used uniforms (just ask at the front office!) There are also events throughout the year to both donate and "shop".

Families do not need to give anything in order to take from the closet. Typically, there is a call for donations at the end of the school year, and a call for families to pick up clothes at the beginning of the school year. You can also donate clothes at anytime to the front office.

  • One of our most popular family events! FOM reserves tent sites at Texas State Parks or City Parks for Magnolia families for a Fall Camping Trip and a Spring Camping Trip each year. Trips start on Friday nights, and end Sunday mornings.

Check out the School Slideshow to see some pictures of past camping trips here! Stay for the weekend, one night, or just come for the day!

*Not to be confused with the school Upper Elementary Camping Trip, in which Upper Elementary students go with their teachers and parent chaperones to retreat facilities that have bunk cabins.

  • The book fair is like a mini bookstore right at school! Students have opportunities to shop with their classes during the school day, and grown-ups can shop during designated after-school hours.

In addition to new books for sale, we accept and offer a great selection of gently used books that students can take home free of charge, if they are not making a purchase.

A significant portion of the sales goes back to the school to purchase books for classrooms.

  • A fun time for all families to come to campus and watch a movie on the big screen under the stars. Concessions are typically sold, and all are welcome to bring their own meals as well.

  • These are a chance to meet/hang out with other families in your children’s class at the beginning of the school year. They may also happen throughout the year, depending on how social your class is. They are typically organized by your community’s room reps.

  • FOM hosts an ice cream party for students who completed the STAAR tests and their teachers! A well deserved treat when tests are finished!
