We’re serious about this Playground!

So, odds are you’ve heard about the whole “New Playground” thing.

Well, we’ve all been fundraising for it, and FOM has been hard at work shopping around, bargaining with vendors, and mulling over bids.

We’re so excited to show you what we’ve got so far!

The More You Know…

Y’all.

Playgrounds are seriously pricey and COMPLICATED things to order! We have been HARD at work all year figuring out this puzzle, and we are SO excited with what we’ve come up with!

Please read below to find out more about our plans.

Area “A”

The middle playground has two areas of opportunity. (See map at the top of this page)

Area “A” is currently home to two “monkey-bar” structures, a concrete path, a basketball hoop and a bench. We think we can top this!

We are envisioning in this area, a high-quality, durable, and long-lasting playscape. The monkey bars and bench will be re-homed or moved. And we hope to keep that basketball hoop right where it is if we can.

The concrete path will be replaced with a surface area that’s compliant with this kind of usage.

Area “B”

Area “B” (See map at the top of this page) is currently home to a large sandbox under a durable sun shade, two awesome yellow slides on a turfed hill, and a wildly popular yellow “spinny thing”.

We’re going to try to find a new home on campus for the large sandbox, and in its place, we’re sourcing an avant-garde style play structure (think something along the lines of the play area at St. Elmo’s). This new structure will fit easily under the height of the existing sun shade, and provide amazing open-ended play to our communities for years to come.

The plan is to keep all the rest of the elements in this area, and hopefully incorporate more astroturf as a surface area underneath the new play structure, to tie into the look and feel of “Slide Hill”.

Take a look at some concept pics to see what we’re excited about!
