Volunteer

The more prizes we win, the more help we’ll need!

Help is needed to decorate, set up, scan laps for runners, and clean up at the end of the event. Or if you can contribute by bringing a COW BELL, pop up canopy tent, or 5 gallon cooler to hold drinks, we need that too!

Sign up here to volunteer and email us if you can bring something!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Set a modest reachable goal and they can walk, stroll, roll, dance - move however they’d like around the track! They can even switch off with friends and relay around the track.

The important thing is that they’re moving their body and getting in some healthy exercise while raising money for our school. We will also have energetic music at the Fun Run, so to encourage our bodies to move!

  • Not at all! It is a come and go event and families coming at different times will actually keep our field and activity stations from getting too crowded. We anticipate most families will spend around 2 hours total at the Fun Run, depending on the amount of time they spend on the race track.

Note that this is NOT a drop-off event. Participating children must be accompanied by a guardian.

  • Does my child need to complete all their laps in one go, or can they go back and forth between the attractions and the track? We will open the field to start the race around 9:15, giving families a little bit of time to get through the registration table before starting laps, but your child can do laps at any time from then until 1:00. Your child can absolutely take a break from doing laps and come back and do some more later! Your child will turn in their scan card to the registration table each time they leave the field, but you can just ask for it back to do more laps. All laps are tracked with our scanners. When your child decides they are finished for the day, don’t forget to go to the celebration station to snap a picture, post up your total completed number of laps on our Fun Run poster, and get some beads to celebrate their accomplishment!

  • Even if you can’t join us on the day, we still encourage students to register as participants and set a mileage goal.

You can run/walk/skip/stroll your mileage at another time and/or location, and report your mileage to Fun Run Organizers. It’s super easy! Our only ask that you stick to the deadline, completing and reporting all mileage by the event date, Saturday 4/26.

  • Absolutely! We would love for families to do this alongside their children and show them that exercise and supporting our school are shared values! Feel free to stroll or wear little ones!

  • We do accept cash and check donations. Checks can be made out to “MMFA” with memo: “Fun Run - [name of student]”, and either mailed to MMFA (5100 Pecan Brook Dr., Austin, TX 78724), or dropped off with Ms. Nora at the office. Cash donations can be dropped off with Ms. Nora as well. If you’d like the donations to be added to your child’s class, please make sure you fill out a donor slip for each donation.

  • You can text them the main website for our school’s Fun Run: https://app.99pledges.com/fund/fomfunrun and have them search for your child’s name (or add “/[first name]-[last name]” to the end of that url). You can also print up these flyers in English or Spanish, add your child’s name and goal, and hand these out to neighbors or friends that you don’t have contact information for.

  • You can see real-time progress of our overall fundraising totals at https://app.99pledges.com/fund/fomfunrun. Class fundraising totals can also be viewed on that site in the drop-down menu called “All participants,” under the list of what the donations will go towards. We also have a class tracker poster in the main office that we update regularly with each class’ participant count and donation counts, and we aim to write up our overall fundraising totals on the sign at the front gate each day.

  • Yes! We will have a MMFA family-owned taco truck selling tacos, quesadillas, beans/rice, drinks, and dessert, and a Kona Ice truck selling shaved ice. The taco truck will be donating 10% of their sales to the Fun Run, and Kona Ice, who will be donating 20%-30% of sales to the Fun Run! We will also have a refreshment station with water for people to refill their water bottles, granola bars and fruit. And if your family would like more cotton candy or popcorn than your free serving(s) for participation, there will be an opportunity to buy them as well. Please note that we will only be accepting cash and Venmo payments for these concessions.

  • Magnolia will be doing registration for new students at the office on the same day, so we recommend that you park on Pecan Brook or in the surrounding neighborhood. We will have the pedestrian gate open to Pecan Brook for families to enter and exit from.

  • We will have the multipurpose room open for bathroom use, but all children MUST have an adult with them to exit the Fun Run area (the big playground) as we are not permitted to have children roaming on the campus without adult supervision.
